EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The Super Bowl-champion New York Giants will play five primetime games and face seven playoff teams this season.

Three of the primetime games will be played in the first four weeks of the season with two being midweek contests, including the season opener on Sept 5, a Wednesday night meeting the Dallas Cowboys.

The NFL also has the Giants facing the Panthers on a Thursday night in the third week of the season and playing the Philadelphia Eagles 10 days later in a Sunday night contest.

The Giants will face the three NFC teams — Atlanta, Green Bay and San Francisco — they defeated in the playoffs. They also will have games with Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Green Bay, New Orleans, and Baltimore.

New York won’t have a bye until Nov. 18.

“We will have a week-in and week-out challenge, not only in who we play, but with the different elements of our schedule,” Giants coach Tom Coughlin said. “We play on four different days and we have five night games. Our first three games are Wednesday-Sunday-Thursday. We play two road night games early, come home for a week and then go to San Francisco. Our people are going to have to be really good about it.”

The Giants ended a mostly ho-hum regular season with consecutive wins over the New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys to snag the NFC East crown at 9-7. From there, they defeated the Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers in the NFC playoffs, before knocking off the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.

The drop — or bad throw by Brady, you be the judge — led to a Patriots punt and Eli Manning led the Giants on an 88-yard game-winning drive. The operation behind the stunt is pawngo.com, an Internet pawn shop based in Denver that wanted to have a little fun and insert itself in the middle of the Boston vs. New York rivalry (they’re Tim Tebow fans). MAYOR BLOOMBERG ANNOUNCES NEW YORK CITY WILL HOST A TICKER-TAPE PARADE AND CEREMONY FOR THE SUPER BOWL XLVI CHAMPIONS NEW YORK GIANTS

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg announced tonight that New York City will host a ticker-tape parade in honor of the Super Bowl XLVI Champions New York Giants on Tuesday, February 7th, 2012.  The parade will begin at Battery Place and Washington Street at 11:00 AM and continue northbound up the Canyon of Heroes to Worth Street. The parade will be followed by a ceremony at City Hall Plaza, at which the Mayor will present the NY Giants with Keys to the City.

“Big Blue gave us a game to remember, and on Tuesday we’re going to give them a parade to remember,” said Mayor Bloomberg.

The City will conduct a public giveaway for 250 winners (500 tickets) to the ceremony in City Hall Plaza on Monday, February 6th from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM through www.nyc.gov and 311. People will also be able to access the entry form through the New York City Mayor’s Office Twitter page. Tri-state area residents 18 years and over will have an opportunity to enter the giveaway by visiting www.nyc.gov or calling 311 and selecting the Ticket Giveaway menu option. There will not be an opportunity to enter the giveaway before 9:00 AM, and it will end promptly at 11:00 AM.Entrants may only enter once and will be asked to give their name, email address and phone number in order to enter. Winners will be notified beginning at 2 PM and will have to pick up their tickets at a location in Midtown by 8 PM Monday night. Members of the public can become a follower of the New York City Mayor’s Office Twitter page by visiting www.twitter.com/NYCMayorsOffice

While the sidewalks lining Tuesday’s tickertape parade up the Canyon of Heroes along Broadway from the Battery to City Hall are open to all members of the public, there is limited space on City Hall Plaza for the ceremony with the Giants players and owners.  The City will set up three large screens around City Hall for members of the public to watch the ceremony.  In addition to tickets for Giants friends and family, additional tickets for seats on City Hall Plaza will be distributed to the public by Members of the City Council and other City elected officials, community organizations that work in partnership with the Mayor’s Community Affairs Unit in all five boroughs, City and State agencies, and municipal unions.

Sweepstakes winners will have to present photo identification to pick up tickets     and to enter City Hall Plaza.  All guests will have to go through security on the east side of City Hall only, and all bags will be examined. Access to City Hall Plaza for the ceremony will begin early, and attendees will likely not have an opportunity to attend preceding parade.

January 08, 2012- MET LIFE Stadium- Wildcard Playoff Game, New York Giants vs Atlanta Falcons, 1pm

Eli Manning and the Giants’ stellar offense and defense against the Falcons propels them into a showdown with Green Bay next Sunday!

After waiting three years to get a taste of the postseason, the Giants are going to stay around and savor it for a while.

Using a smothering defense and an opportunistic, big-play offense, the Giants routed the Atlanta Falcons, 24-2, Sunday in an NFC Wild Card Game in MetLife Stadium. It was the Giants’ first postseason victory since Super Bowl XLII.

The fourth-seeded Giants, 10-7, advance to a divisional round game next week in Lambeau Field against the top-seeded Green Bay Packers, who had a bye this weekend after finishing the regular season 15-1.  The Giants defeated the Packers in Lambeau in the 2007 NFC Conference Championship game.
